todays date is just a number, but i still think this is pretty neat.

1492 - The Ensisheim Meteorite, the oldest meteorite with a known date of impact, strikes the earth around noon in a wheat field outside the village of Ensisheim, Alsace, France.
1805 - Lewis & Clark 1st sights Pacific Ocean
1929 - Museum of Modern Art opens (NYC)
1943 - Detroit Lions 0, NY Giants 0; last scoreless tie in NFL
1973 - NJ becomes 1st state to allow girls into little league
